Body of missing 20-year-old found on Kota Tinggi beach

KOTA TINGGI: The body of 20-year-old Haqim Abdul Rahim has been found after he went missing while going for a swim near a Pantai Batu Layar chalet here.

Punggai Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Mohammad Saifulizam Mohd Rofi said that his body was found at 7.45am on Monday (July 22).

“His body was found about 1km away from where he was last seen. He had washed ashore on the rocky part of the beach,” he said in a statement here.

The body has been handed over to the police and sent to Kota Tinggi Hospital for further action, he added.

The body of 26-year-old Muhammad Syahmie Zamzam was found at 3.19pm approximately 100m from the shore.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said both victims were from Johor Baru and went to the beach at 9.15am.

“We would like to remind the public to be careful when visiting the beach and avoid swimming when the waves are strong,” he said, adding that the case is classified as a sudden death report (SDR).
