Man Saves Boy From Drowning, Says People Should Be Thanking Taiwanese Singer Richie Ren Instead

There’s a saying that “good things happen to good people”, and for one Richie Ren fan, this couldn’t be truer.

Earlier this month, the fan, named Liu Zhong Pang, was playing on a beach in Dalian, China, with his wife and daughter when he heard “chilling” cries for help coming from the sea.

Without a second thought, he jumped into the water and rescued a teenage boy who was on the verge of drowning.

Zhong Pang later recounted the incident on his socials saying that the waves were huge that day and that no one dared to save the boy.

The boy’s dad thanked Zhong Pang profusely for rescuing his son, but Zhong Pang responded: “If you want to thank someone, thank Richie Ren. If Richie hadn’t come to Dalian for a concert, I wouldn’t be here.”

News of the Zhong Pang’s heroic deed quickly spread online and when Richie learned about it, he left a comment on the fan’s socials saying: “No need to thank me, I should be thanking you for your kindness and courage.”

The Taiwanese singer also posted a Douyin video saying that many people had sent him messages to thank him, but he felt that they shouldn’t be thanking him.

Richie was deeply moved by Zhong Pang’s selfless act and invited him to attend his concerts for free as a token of appreciation.

Needless to say, Zhong Pang was ecstatic, sharing online: “Helping others truly brings joy to oneself. Netizens say that good things happen to good people, and I didn’t expect it to come true so quickly!”

Richie is slated to perform in Taipei on Aug 24 and 25, and Shanghai on Sep 20 and 21.
