Local actor Kenji Sawahi, 61, says he would rather stay in a nursing home than burden his family

Malaysian actor Kenji Sawahi plans on staying in a nursing home someday if he doesn’t find a life partner.

In a recent interview with mStar, The Star’s Malay-language news portal, Kenji – whose real name is Lim Boon Wah – said the decision comes as he didn’t want to trouble his family.

“I’m already living on my own now. Once I’m older, I plan to sell all of my assets and divide the money among my family members.

“I’m choosing to stay in a nursing home if I don’t find my soulmate. I don’t want to trouble anyone. My siblings already have their own families,” the 61-year-old said.

The Hantu Judi star also told Harian Metro: “At this age, the fact that I still get to open my eyes the next day is already a blessing.”

Although Kenji is open to the idea of a relationship, he believes finding a life partner at this stage seems unlikely.

Nonetheless, the actor is perfectly content with his single status and doesn’t see it as a concern. In fact, he enjoys the freedom that comes with it.

“I’m already 61. If I marry and my child turns 20, I would already be 80! How would I be able to care for them then?

“Single life is fun for me. Even if the production crew calls me for a project at the last minute, I can still go as I have no other responsibilities,” he said to mStar.

Kenji made his acting debut in the 1986 drama, Mata Kristal, and has appeared in popular shows such as Gerak KhasKL Gangster: Underworld 2 and Special Force: Anarchy.

He is currently starring in the new Astro drama, Ternyata Sebuah Bahagia, led by Datin Elvina Mohamad and Zamarul Hisham.
