Ipoh cops to meet with agencies next week over mysterious loud noise

IPOH: The police will meet with several governmental and private agencies to discuss the mysterious loud noise that shook the city on Monday (Oct 21).

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said he has instructed his deputy to arrange a meeting next Tuesday (Oct 29) to clarify the incident.

“We will call about 20 of these agencies to discuss the matter.

“If some agencies need to rope in external experts, they can also do so,” he said in a press conference after attending a state police contingent-held nasyid contest at the state secretariat building here on Friday (Oct 25).

“It is my responsibility to vet the agencies’ reports, get clarifications and any actions that can be taken.

“I will then issue a statement after the meeting to provide an update to the public,” he added.

A loud bang was reportedly heard in several parts of the city on Monday at about 11.05am.

Comm Azizi said that there is no evidence of what caused the noise.

“It is still a mystery as of now, as there had been no confirmations from any agencies for any conclusion,” he said, adding that the meeting was his idea.

“I hope to be able to provide some answers so that people can be calm,” he added.
