M’sian Singer Firdhaus Loses 25K IG Followers, Dropped From Events After Cheating Scandal

Johor-born Firdhaus is (was?) one of Malaysia’s most promising talents in the Chinese music scene.

Malaysian singer-songwriter Firdhaus Farmizi, who shot to fame in 2020 with viral Mandarin ballad ‘Gulf Of Alaska’, has seen his career take a hit after he was swept up in a cheating scandal.

Firdhaus, 25, had been dating fellow singer Diorlying for four years when they  announced their break-up in October.

The news shocked fans as they were once the golden couple of Malaysia’s Chinese music scene.

While they appeared to have split amicably, Diolying’s recent Instagram Stories seemed to suggest Firdhaus had cheated on her.

In response, Firdhaus has issued a statement claiming he did not cheat, though he “[does] not deny that [he] has gotten to know someone new” after the break-up.

Firdhaus said he met the woman several years ago and had worked together a few times in the past.

They met again during his Australia concert last month and got to know each other better.

He admitted that he has “developed feelings for her” but they are not dating.

He also urged the public to stop making false accusations and doxxing the woman.

However, netizens are not buying his words.

Firdhaus lost 25K IG followers in just two days — dropping from 619K to 594K as of press time.

Chinese smartphone brand Vivo also cut ties with the singer, cancelling his appearance at its X200 series launch event yesterday (Nov 19).

Firdhaus, who was set to perform alongside his ex at the Different Ways of Love concert in Kuala Lumpur on December 15, has also reportedly been replaced.

Johor-born Firdhaus is one of Malaysia’s most promising talents in the Chinese music scene.

Though he was raised in a Malay household, he attended Chinese schools since pre-school and is well-versed in Chinese.

In 2020, he made waves in China when his Mandarin hit ‘Gulf Of Alaska’ went viral on Douyin and his duet with Diolying ‘Divorce In Ghana’ in 2023 further boosted his popularity.

Firdhaus has been removed from marketing materials for Different Ways Of Love concert.
