The incident occurred on Saturday (Nov 23) when Mohd Hanis, who was riding a motorcycle, was struck by a lorry that suddenly reversed at a construction site on Jalan Kerinchi, moving from Jalan Pantai Dalam towards Jalan Pantai Baru.
On the same day, the daily reported that the lorry driver had been detained to assist in the investigation into the fatal accident involving the motorcyclist.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief assistant commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said that the department received a report on the accident at 8:34am on Saturday.
According to him, the 32-year-old lorry driver was at the construction site refilling the vehicle’s brake fluid.
During this process, the lorry unexpectedly reversed on its own, crashing through a security gate and onto the main road, colliding with the motorcycle ridden by the 32-year-old victim.
Mohd Zamzuri explained that the victim fell and was pinned under the right rear tyre of the lorry, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry also knocked a car in the adjacent lane, causing its driver to sustain a forehead injury.
