Machete-wielding robbers from Muar arrested in Sungkai, remanded seven days
MUAR: Two men and a woman, believed to be involved in an armed robbery with machetes in Taman Sri Treh, Muar, on Tuesday (Dec 17), and who went viral on social media, have been remanded for seven days starting Saturday (Dec 21), Malay language daily Sinar Harian reports.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Suzana Mokhtar at a Muar Magistrate’s Court for all three suspects, who are in their 30s, to assist in investigations under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code.
It is understood that the three suspects were arrested in Sungkai, Perak.
Prior to this, several videos went viral on Facebook on Thursday (Dec 19), showing two masked men committing a break-in and armed robbery at a house in Taman Sri Treh.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the incident occurring at approximately 5:21pm on Dec 17.
Muar deputy OCPD Supt Muhammad Aidil Roneh Abdullah said that following the incident, police found a car abandoned in the garage of a house in Jasin, Melaka, around 11:30am on Wednesday (Dec 18), believed to have been used by the suspects in the robbery.
