HK Actor Michael Chan, 81, Who Battled Lung Cancer, Sparks Concern For Continuing To Smoke

In recent years, the Young and Dangerous 3 star also suffered a stroke and had brain cancer. He also needed hip replacement surgery.

’90s Hong Kong martial artist Michael Chan Wai Man (陳惠敏) has been plagued by health scares in the past few years.

The now 81-year-old actor, who’s best known for playing the vicious gangster Camel Lok in Young and Dangerous 3suffered a stroke and battled lung cancer in 2020. Then in 20201, he was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Michael reportedly incurred medical expenses exceeding HK$1mil (S$175K) but thankfully, with the care and support of his wife Ng Kwok Ying, managed to pull through his health crisis.

The couple got married in 2020, though they’ve been together for five decades and have three children.

Michael recently needed hip replacement surgery and now needs a walking stick to get around.

A recent clip of Michael has fans worried about his health all over again.

The actor was seen at a restaurant with his friends.

He looked like he has aged significantly, and was even smoking, which sparked concern among netizens given his history with lung cancer.

In a previous interview, Michael talked about his battles with cancer.

“I’d be lying if I said I’m not afraid. Everyone fears death. I never expected to have cancer in my brain,” he said.

Michael shared he had experienced severe symptoms, including frequent dizziness and impaired vision. The tumour, which was on the right side of his brain, eventually affected the left side of his body.

“Now I’m not that agile anymore, and my body feels numb at times. I also feel weak occasionally,” he said.

Michael should really stop smoking for the sake of his health
