Hong Kong Accent Voted As The “Sexiest Accent” Among Asians When Speaking English

What makes an accent qualify as sexy? Is it the irresistible pull you feel when you hear someone speak, or how you could hear them yap on and on and never get bored?

Well, according to the US app Preply, Hongkongers have the sexiest accent amongst Asians when speaking in English.

The survey, as reported in a Time Out Hong Kong article, was conducted among Hong Kongers, so you can read into these results as you wish.

Emerging on top with almost 50 per cent of votes is the British accent. A no brainer, if you ask us.

Then we have the Hong Kong accent, which came in a close second with 43.1 percent of votes.

Whether home pride came into play when the votes were cast, we don’t know. What we do know is that Hong Kong accent is often used as caricature in Western pop culture when Asians speak English.

In third was the French accent, with 31 percent of votes, followed by the American accent with 28.4 per cent of votes.

The Singaporean accent came in eighth on the list.
