Woman Keeps Ang Pows In Luggage On Bus Ride From KL To JB, Finds Her S$1.2K Haul Missing When She Got Home
Why would she leave her ang pows in her luggage??
Why would she leave her ang pows in her luggage??
Imagine looking forward to opening your Chinese New Year ang pows only to realise they are empty.
A Malaysian woman surnamed Wang took to Xiaohongshu to share that she lost more than 4K ringgit (S$1.2K) during her bus ride from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru.
The money was stored in red packets and had been kept in her suitcase which had been stowed in the bus’s cabin.
She discovered that the suitcase’s zipper had been forcibly opened and damaged upon reaching home.
She believes it would have taken someone experienced and equipped with tools to open her suitcase and individually empty her red packets.
“My heart sank! This was all the money I received during Chinese New Year,” she lamented.
Wang also said some of the red packets contained Singapore dollars.
In the post, she also expressed suspicion that the bus driver might have been responsible for the theft.
According to her, he was especially enthusiastic when assisting with her luggage.
Wang has since reported the matter to the police though complained that they seem indifferent.
“Perhaps they thought the amount was too small and said they had no evidence to question anyone,” Wang said.
Netizens were also not sympathetic towards Wang’s situation, with many asking why she didn’t keep her ang pows in a more secure place.
“Don’t people keep cash in their hand carry bags?” asked a comment, while another felt that Wang was pulling a fast one and asked, “How did she know the amount in the ang pows?”
