PKR polls: I’ve never drafted a resignation letter, says Rafizi

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli says he had neither prepared a resignation letter nor announced any decision to refrain from contesting in the PKR polls.

“I would like to state that I have never drafted a resignation letter, nor stated that I would not be contesting. I also never packed up my office either.

“My office remains a clutter of files to this day and for Nurul Izzah Anwar to say she entered the contest to save the party from a vacancy is not true,” he said in a post on his social media accounts on Friday (May 23).

He said Nurul Izzah could have easily contacted him to confirm the matter as she had often done so in 2021 and 2022 to persuade him to be active again for general election in 2022.

Explaining the chronology of events in his post, the PKR deputy president said Nurul Izzah offered him a position in the party but he was not interested and said would respect the election results.

“I am not good at putting on different faces and it is well known in the inner and outer circle of the party that I am uncomfortable with some groups, who, in my view, do not reflect the political reform that PKR is bringing.

“Their practices are largely about money and their passion for running for office are at odds with the reform promises of the party.

“I consistently turn them down and for this I am accused of being egostic as this groups spring-up during elections and reject candidates who do not practice their type of politics.

“If Nurul Izzah is concerned about their practices, she should not conspire with them to win the deputy presidency,” he added.
