Cops probing traffic accident involving officer and civilian
PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating a traffic accident involving one of their own and a member of the public.
Following a video of the incident, Bukit Aman traffic investigation and enforcement department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri confirmed that investigations are underway and that the exact location of the accident and personnel involved had been identified.
“We have checked and have opened an investigation paper under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act, and we are still in the midst of investigating the matter,” he said.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, in a statement today, said that the incident occurred within the district along the Subang Kelana Jaya Link.
“Investigations showed that there had been contact between the two motorcycles, leading to a 20-year-old motorcyclist falling at the side of the road,” he said.
He also disputed claims that the policeman involved had not stopped following the collision.
“Checks on the full dashcam footage showed the policeman that was on official duty stopping some 30 meters away so as not to endanger other road users. The policeman, along with members of the public, then assisted the motorcyclist until he received treatment at the Shah Alam hospital,” he said.
ACP Wan Azlan also urged witnesses to come forward to assist investigations.
