Six appointed to MACC advisory board

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner presented letters of appointment to six new members of MACC’s Anti-Corruption Advisory Board on Tuesday (Aug 5).

In a statement, MACC said that His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia had appointed the six for a three-year term beginning July 15, 2025.

“The appointments were made on the advice of the Prime Minister in accordance with Section 13 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009,” it added.

The six include Datuk Seri Dr Yusof Ismail, a former director-general of the Administrative and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) in the Prime Minister’s department, and former Transparency International Malaysia president Datuk Seri Dr Akhbar Satar.

The other appointed to the board are former Public Service Department deputy director-general (operations Datuk Zainal Azman Abu Seman, former Finance Ministry deputy secretary-general (management) Datuk Othman Semail, National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) chairman Datuk Dr Narimah Awin, and Enforcement Leadership and Management University (Elmu) vice-chancellor Datuk Dr Mohd Kassin Noor Mohamed.

MACC said the primary role of the advisory board is to advise MACC on strategies, policies, and matters related to corruption issues in the country.

The MACC chief commissioner is an ex-officio member of the board as provided under Section 13(2)(b) of the MACC Act 2009.
