Seven months after the death of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, her husband, South Korean rapper DJ Koo continues to mourn her loss with quiet devotion.
He has been frequently spotted visiting her resting place at the Chin Pao San Cemetery in New Taipei, keeping her company.
Last week, he was once again seen at the cemetery. This time, however, he was not alone but accompanied by his Korean pal Michael and a Taiwanese friend.
According to Next Apple News, DJ Koo brought snacks and candles that Barbie loved and also set out six photos of the couple together while sketching on a tablet.
The sketches appeared to be early concepts for a memorial statue of Barbie.
Designed by DJ Koo, the statue, which will be placed about a kilometre away from her grave, is expected to be completed by the anniversary of Barbie’s passing in February.
After about an hour at the site, the group packed up their belongings to leave.
Reporters seized the chance to ask the usually low-key DJ Koo questions such how long he planned to remain in Taiwan and what he would “talk about” with Barbie during his visits.
Though he stayed reserved, when asked if he often dreamed of her, he became emotional, and responded in English: “Of course.” It was the first interview he has granted since her passing.
Following their visit, the trio drove to a three-story villa in Jinshan, which overlooks Chin Pao San Cemetery and has been described as DJ Koo’s retreat for healing.
Reports note that he has not returned to the home he once shared with Barbie.
