Ensure details on MyKad and driving license match for subsidised petrol under Budi95

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians should ensure that details on their MyKads and driving licenses match to enjoy RON95 petrol priced at RM1.99 per litre under the Budi95 programme, says the Finance Ministry.

It said a cross-analysis with the Transport Ministry revealed that some driving licences did not follow the 12-digit format used on MyKad.

Some still used old details such as the police number, armed forces number and even some old identification card numbers.

Apart from ensuring licenses are valid, the ministry advised the public to verify that their 12-digit MyKad numbers are recorded correctly on driving licenses.

It also advised license holders to ensure their names are accurate and that the vehicle licence class is indicated clearly.

“This is important as driving license details are cross-checked with information on the MyKad,” it said in a statement on Monday (Sept 30).

Those with differing information are advised to get it updated at Road Transport Department counters.

“The Finance Ministry and Transport Ministry will speed up the data consolidation weekly to ensure all Malaysians can enjoy subsidised fuel under Budi95,” it said.

Beginning Tuesday (Sept 30) Malaysian citizens with a valid driving licence will be eligible for Budi95.

The programme entitles those eligible to 300 litres of subsidised RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre instead of RM2.05 per litre currently. E-hailing drivers can apply for a higher limit.
