Woman killed, five others injured in multi-vehicle pileup

IPOH: A woman has been killed while her husband and two young children were injured after a lorry crashed into their motorcycle at Jalan Kampung Kayan, near Sitiawan.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting assistant director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said the incident occurred around 8.15am on Wednesday (Oct 22), when the husband stopped the motorcycle to offer assistance to another vehicle.

“A car with two men in it has lost control and veered off the road. The motorcyclist stopped and tried to help.

“A lorry then crashed into the motorcycle,” he said in a statement, adding that the lorry flipped on its side due to the collision.

Shazlean said a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle and another motorcycle were also caught in the incident.

The lorry driver and the other motorcyclist were injured, while the two men in the car and five others in the 4WD vehicle escaped unharmed.

“The body of the deceased has been handed over to the police for the next course of action,” he added.
