Pakho Chau Reveals How He Had Proposed to His Wife
Pakho Chau (周柏豪) and Jinny Ng (吳若希) were invited as guests to the newest episode of Young and Restless <後生仔傾吓偈>. Pakho is usually discreet about his relationship with his wife Stephanie Chu, but he shared a few tidbits on the show.
Dating for ten years before getting married in 2016, Pakho and Stephanie have a very good understanding of each other. His wife had never pressured him into getting married, and Pakho feels that their relationship dynamics haven’t changed since she was already very familiar with his family.
When Pakho worked as a model, he met Stephanie who was a stylist on a photo shoot. He did not approach her at first, but they crossed paths on Friendster a year later. He immediately started to pursue her, and had a steady dating relationship for ten years. Marrying secretly in Thailand, they had a very simple ceremony for family and very close friends. There were no bachelor or bachelorette parties, and there was no bridal party.
Pakho shared that he had originally planned to propose to Stephanie during their vacation in Japan at an onsen hotel near Mt. Fuji. “At the time, I had planned everything and brought all the needed props but there was a typhoon and the mood was lost. We had planned to go to Tokyo on Valentine’s Day, so I prayed for good weather. We finished breakfast and the weather suddenly cleared up, so I took my chance! My wife is not the greatest at expressing her emotions because she is an Aries, so she asked me, ‘Why did you bring all these things to Japan?’ but I know she used this to hide her happiness and maintain her image. On the other hand I was so nervous, I couldn’t even cry and forgot all of my lines!
“The day before I proposed, I was extremely nervous. I was scared that she would figure it out. I thought about just getting it over with the night before while we were watching fireworks. I was going to wait until she went to the washroom, and then I would pretend to fall when she came out. When she would ask me if I’m okay, I would kneel down to propose. But when we got there, the floor were full of tatami. Either way, we would have to be on the ground so I couldn’t kneel properly. I did pretend to fall, but the whole proposal wasn’t [well done].” Nevertheless, Stephanie agreed to marry Pakho.
