Myolie Wu and Francis Ng Reunite for Danny Pang’s “New World”
Myolie Wu’s (胡杏兒) first major project after her long vacation will be Danny Pang’s (彭發) new film New World <世紀風暴>, which will start principal photography after the Lunar New Year.
Co-starring Francis Ng (吳鎮宇), Eddie Cheung (張兆輝), Wallace Chung (鍾漢良), and Thailand’s Film King Pavarit Mongkolpisit, the film reunites Myolie with her Triumph in the Skies <衝上雲霄> costar Francis Ng, but the old duo will not share many scenes together.
“My character gets close with Eddie Cheung for a very specific reason,” she said. “I’ll be spending most of my time with him and Wallace Chung.”
New World is Myolie’s first film with Danny Pang, who has directed many action films with his brother Oxide Pang (彭順). “This is my first time working with [Danny Pang],” shared Myolie. “I’m looking forward to his direction.” Danny said, “When I heard you agreed to do this role, I immediately added more action scenes for you!” Myolie said, “I have to thank you first for hiring me!”
Eddie Cheung, who just won Best Supporting Actor at the 11th Macau International Movie Festival, shared that he will be presenting a very different side of himself for New World. “I’m not playing a gray character, but a character that is completely different from the roles I’ve done before. I’m sure it’s going to be a fresh look.”
Director Danny Pang has told Eddie to “train intensively” for the role, as he would be doing a shirtless scene. “There’s going to be a scene where I have to jump in a pool, and I need to get a six pack! As a professional actor, if the directors wants me to be skinny, I’ll be skinny. If the director wants a sick pack, I’ll get a six pack. I haven’t had time to train this year, but hopefully I’ll get to see my six pack again soon.”
