Gigi Leung and Family Return to Hong Kong Just Before Spain’s Lockdown
The coronavirus pandemic has affected over 140 countries around the world, and many European countries, including Italy, Spain, and France, are on mandatory lockdown.
Spain is the second European country, after Italy, to be most hit by the coronavirus pandemic. As of the week of March 15th, Spain has confirmed over 6,300 cases, with over 190 deaths. The wife of Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, has also been tested positive for the coronavirus.
Spain has been on national lockdown since March 16th. For the next 15 days, all restaurants, bars, hotels, schools, and other non-essential shops in Spain will be closed. Spanish citizens are encouraged to stay in their residence, but they may leave their home for work, the pharmacy, the clinic, the bank, or for grocery shopping.
On Lunar New Year, Gigi Leung (梁詠琪) brought her five year old daughter Sofia to Spain to spend the holidays with the paternal side of her family. As Hong Kong was in shut down around that time, Gigi decided to stay in Spain for a few more weeks. Sofia also spent her fifth birthday in Spain last month.
Due to work, Gigi had to fly back to Hong Kong last week, narrowly missing Spain’s mandatory lockdown. She encouraged fans on Sunday to carry sanitizing items when they leave their homes and to “thoroughly protect themselves.”
