BLACKPINK’s Makeup Artist Accused Of Plagiarising Instagrammer’s Look
BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) is currently gearing up for their much-anticipated return to the K-pop scene.
However, things unexpectedly turned sour after a beauty content creator named Nushafarin called out the group’s makeup artist, Maeng, for allegedly stealing her work.
The issue came to light after the Afghan beauty took to social media to point out the obvious similarities. Based on the photo comparison above, Jennie’s pink flame/blade-shaped eye makeup (used in the group’s comeback teaser) is the same as Nushafarin’s look, which was uploaded back in February. She wrote, “My work was clearly plagiarised. I wish to hold big companies like MUAs (YG Entertainment and Maeng) accountable.”
She also explained that while she did not specifically came up with the flame makeup look, it was inspired by blades instead. “(The look was) unique because of the placement, under the eye, only on one eye, with a unique flick in the inner and outer corner“, Nushafani shared. She then pointed out that the look was “not changed at all. The colour was kept pink and even the shading around the liner was replicated.”

Scrolling through the replies section, many BLINKs (BLACKPINK fans) have left supportive remarks towards her. Others also slammed both YG and Maeng for using the look without reaching out to the original creator first.
