Joe Giudice Claps Back at Troll: My Daughters Will NOT Be “On the Pole”!
It was Father’s Day on Sunday, and all over the world, sons and daughters paid tribute to the men who helped raise them.
Of course, for many families across the globe, the Father’s Day celebrations took place from afar out of necessity.
Take the famous (or infamous) Giudices, of The Real Housewives of New Jersey fame, for example.
We all know their circumstances by now.
It’s been over six months since patriarch Joe Giudice was deported after serving time on tax fraud charges.
Rather than fight deportation from an ICE detention center, he opted for the relative comfort of his homeland.
It was not an easy decision for him.
While there are worse punishments than spending the remainder of one’s days in sunny Italy – particulary compared to prison – Joe is tormented by the separation from his four beloved daughters.
On Sunday, Joe’s estranged wife, Teresa Giudice, posted a loving tribute to her girls’ distant dad.
“Happy Fathers Day @joe.giudice The girls miss you today & everyday!” Teresa captioned the photo above.
Seems innocent enough – albeit a bit blurry – but Instagram being Instagram, it wasn’t long before trolls arrived.
“Failed father, two of the four will end up on the pole no doubt,” one particularly hateful user commented.
“Please remove yourself off Teresa[’s] page! Although, Pole dancing is [a] respectful job!” Giudice replied.
“My girls have chosen different career paths momma @twresagiudice got it under control!!”
“We going for 4/4 success on point! #daughtersonpoint #mydaughterssuccess #motivatedmindset.”
We applaud Joe for standing up to this complete ass clown, and without disparaging sex workers in the process.
Well done all around on that front.
But at the same time, he definitely dignified this clownery with a far more detailed response than it deserved.
Discussing your 10-year-old’s “career path” with a stranger on the internet would be weird under any circumstances.
It’s downright bizarre in this case.
And don’t get us started on the “#daughtersonpoint” hashtag. Not what we would’ve chosen, probably. Anyway …
Joe’s heart was in the right place.
We can’t imagine his frustration at being forced to live thousands of miles away from his girls, after he’s paid his debt to society, and while they endure bullying and abuse across the Internet.
It’s got to hurt him every day.
Fortunately, if it’s his daughters’ career success that Joe is worried about, it looks like he can breathe easy.
The girls are all still in school, but in spite of years of upheaval, they’re all performing well academically.
Honestly, it’s impressive.
Oldest daughter Gia is currently attending Rutgers University in New Jersey, where she’s said to be adjusting well to life on campus.
While it’s safe to say kids of reality stars rarely experience “normal” upbringings, things have been particularly rough for these girls.
Can you even imagine?
The Giudices were both imprisoned for tax fraud in recent years, but they were permitted to serve their sentences back-to-back so that their children wouldn’t be forced to enter foster care.
Joe, who never became an American citizen, despite living in the country for most of his life, was deported after his release.
At this point, it’s very much unclear if or when he’ll ever be able to return to the States, even for a visit.
Needless to say, social media is crucial to Joe’s continued relationship to his daughters these days.
And he clearly won’t be standing idly by while morons hurl insults at his girls. Nor should he.
