“The Hunting” Starring Tony Leung Drops First Trailer
Directed by Leo Zhang (张立嘉) and co-produced with France, the Chinese crime thriller The Hunting <猎狐行动> has officially dropped its first trailer in preparation for its debut in the 2021 Lunar New Year. Starring Tony Leung Chiu-wai (梁朝伟), Duan Yihong (段奕宏), Erica Xia-Hou (夏侯云姗), Olga Kurylenko, and Zhang Aoyue (张傲月), The Hunting is based on a true story, and is about a pair of Chinese cops who go against an international money trafficking cartel. The Hunting is Tony Leung and Duan Yihong’s first collaboration.
The ambitious film took over four years in the making and had employed a crew of over 50 French technicians for the film. It was shot in Paris, France last summer. It was also shot in Normandy, Beijing, and Shanghai.
According to Tony, he agreed to do the film after only one read-through of the script. He prepared his role by researching economic crimes through history. Duan Yihong, best known for playing blood-hot roles in action and war films, teased the media that his role in The Hunting would be very different from his previous works.
“The Hunting is not a police film,” stressed director Leo Zhang. “I also wouldn’t consider it an educational film. I wanted to make an international spy film that is both a cinematic and believable experience.”
