Michelle Yeoh Currently On Set Filming Marvel’s “Shang-Chi”
Last week, we learned that Michelle Yeoh (楊紫瓊) had just landed in Sydney, Australia. The 58-year-old actress even shared her painful experience of undergoing the Covid-19 swab test.
So what is the Malaysian-born star doing down under? Local fans will be delighted to know that she’s currently there to film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”.
Michelle uploaded a snapshot of herself in a zen-like meditation pose. You can also notice the gorgeous scenic view behind her and if you look closely, you’ll be able to spot massive Asian village set as well.
Marvel’s first Asian-centric superhero film had recently resumed filming after being halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Starring Simu Liu (劉思慕) as the titular character, “Shang-Chi” cast also include Tony Leung Chiu Wai (梁朝偉) as the villainous Mandarin (leader of the Ten Rings terrorist organisation), former TVB actress Fala Chen (陳法拉) as well as Michelle’s fellow co-stars from “Crazy Rich Asians” – Awkwafina and Ronny Chieng (錢信伊).
Australian channel 7News recently shared some helicopter footage of the massive set with the crew hard at work on its construction. From the visuals provided, you’ll notice a large building being painted to make it look like a palace or temple.
To echo The Direct, the architecture of these buildings seem to suggest that scenes being shot here are not set in modern times. The publication predicts that this Asian village set might be flashbacks about The Mandarin and the big bad’s rise to power during his early days.

Michelle is reportedly the first Malaysian to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we’re super stoked for her. Any guesses on which role she’ll be portraying?
