Wang Leehom Once Allegedly Sexually Harassed HK Singer Kelly Chen

Fans have been predicting Wang Leehom (王力宏) and Lee Jing Lei (李靚蕾)’s divorce for a while now. However, no one came close to guessing why the dream couple fell apart. After rumours that Jing Lei’s bad relationship with her mother-in-law came out, Jing Lei herself revealed that Leehom has been having many affairs.

Fans may have predicted the divorce, but there were things that escaped their eagle eyes. As it turns out, there have been several red flags prior to Jing Lei exposing everything. Netizens have noted that female stars who’ve interacted with Leehom have always looked uncomfortable. Other than “Mulan” actress Crystal Liu (刘亦菲), Hong Kong singer Kelly Chen (陈慧琳) has also had an ‘incident’ with Leehom.

Since Jing Lei’s exposé, Leehom’s reputation has taken a nosedive. Nothing he does is working. Be it him defending himself, or his dad attempting the same, Jing Lei has refuted everything. He has apologised, but things got worse when it was discovered he may have plagiarised his apology. As such, fans started looking into his past for things they may have missed. To their surprise, they did find something.

In 2003, Leehom attended Kelly Chen’s concert as a guest singer. During their duet, Leehom not only placed his arms around Kelly’s waist, he also touched her chest. However, it was brushed off as they were focused on performing and was never brought up again. Some also suspect the topic was never breached as Leehom’s image made him untouchable. Others assumed the news had been suppressed with some outside help.

After Jing Lei’s scalding allegations however, netizens have been viewing the incident in new light. “I (used to) think it was accidental when I saw it before,” one said. Another pointed out how easy it was for “handsome people” to get away with sexual harassment. “I can’t help but sigh,” another comment lamented. “I have been chasing him since he debuted, and I still can’t believe it.”

Even if Leehom brushes it off as an accident now, we doubt he’ll have many believers. There are just some things you cannot recover from. And unfortunately for Leehom, this has apparently been a long time coming.
