South Korean Convenience Chain Store GS25 To Open In Malaysia
If you ever need something while you’re out and about, convenience stores are your best friend. They have (almost) everything; be it food, drinks, or even daily necessities.
Malaysia has garnered quite a few convenience store brands over the years from MyNews, 7Eleven, Family Mart and CU. Well, we’re getting one more. Starting 2023, Korean convenience store GS25 will be opening its first outlet in Malaysia!
Malaysia isn’t the first Southeast Asian country GS25 has made inroads to. Previously, the South Korean store chain opened branches in Vietnam and Mongolia. With its arrival, it brought popular Korean food and drinks to locals. Additionally, the store in Vietnam offers fresh produce, which might also be the case for Malaysia.
The South Korean store chain will be teaming up with KK Group to venture into the Malaysian market. Currently, KK Group has 610 KK Mart stores in Malaysia and is also involved in the hotel and resort businesses. However, they are hoping to introduce GS25 to Malaysia and expand it to Southeast Asia. The goal is to have 500 stores in five years.
Well, if you are a die-hard lover of all things Korean, GS25 is definitely a dream come true for you! You’ll be able to explore Korean delicacies and brands to your heart’s content.
But, hold your horses! Currently, there is no news about when or even where the store will be opening. So, stay tuned for updates and in the meantime, feel free to start planning your shopping spree.
