Pianist Chloe Flower Reveals She Cleared Things Up With Michelle Yeoh at Golden Globes After Music Confusion
Chloe Flower is opening up about Michelle Yeoh telling her to “shut up” on stage at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards last night.
The musician attended the first major award show of the season as the pianist, and her job was to “bring everybody back from commercial break with a performance”, she told Variety.
However, Chloe was quickly brought into some drama when music was played to try and speed up winners’ speeches.
Michelle, as well as Austin Butler and Colin Farrell all reacted to Chloe on stage following their wins, thinking it was her that was playing.
In her new interview with Variety, Chloe explained what happened.
“I don’t know how that got lost in translation,” Chloe said, referring to what the actors knew of her role at the show.
Chloe also said that she patched things up and clarified to Michelle and Austin what was going on with the track that played over them.
“After she won her award, she walked past the piano and I spoke to her,” she recalled. “We embraced. We touched and we held hands. I said, ‘I would never disrespect you and play during your speech.’ She was so lovely and nice.”
Chloe says she also spoke to Austin, saying that “he walked past me and I said, ‘Hey, congratulations, that wasn’t me playing.’”
During the show, Chloe also clarified what was happening on social media.
