Wes Bentley Admits He Has Considered What ‘Yellowstone’ Would Look Like Without Kevin Costner
Wes Bentley is opening up about the recent, and big, Yellowstone headlines that fans have been talking about since the start of the month.
If you didn’t see, there seems to be some drama involving Kevin Costner‘s filming schedule for the back half of season five, which is still planned to premiere in the summer.
During his appearance at SCADTV Fest, Wes is sharing his thoughts on the situation and revealed if he’s ever thought of a Yellowstone without Kevin‘s John Dutton.
Wes told TVLine that he has imagined a Yellowstone without John Dutton. However, it’s been a few seasons.
“I thought about this in Season 1,” he admitted. “It’s always a possibility in TV, right? We’re always ready to die… [And John] really has got this hypnotic pull on Jamie.”
Wes says that he relates what Kevin leaving the show would look like for his own character, Jamie, who is John Dutton’s adopted son.
He adds that John’s death at that time would have turned Jamie’s world upside down.
“Jamie would have been completely lost, he says. “Maybe part of him would be frantic trying to take care of the ranch. I really do think he means what he says. He would feel that burden and maybe panic.”
Now though, Jamie’s storyline has changed, and it’s been a hot minute since Wes has really thought about the future for him.
“After John ran for governor and became the thing he said he hated, Jamie started to have a change of perspective,” he shared. “Maybe John is not this tough guy he says he is. Maybe John doesn’t have ideas. Maybe he’s just another guy like the rest of them.”
“That’s the loss of the pedestal [he was on],” he continued. “The deity is gone. I think that’s why Jamie’s choosing to try to have him killed. [He realizes that his] life would be much better without him, which is a big change for Jamie.”
