JW Stands by Boyfriend’s Side Amid Family Bankruptcy

Singer Joey Wong (王灝兒), more popularly known as JW, and her wealthy boyfriend Tarzan Ip (葉韋彤), have been in a stable relationship for more than five years. Although JW seemed to have landed a “diamond bachelor,” apparently her dream of marrying into wealth is shattered, as Tarzan’s family recently declared bankruptcy due to their inability to repay bank debts.

Tarzan’s father is the founder of Bonjour Holdings Limited, which is a Hong Kong-based investment holding company. At its peak, Tarzan’s family’s net worth reached 1.2 billion yuan. However, the family hit financial troubles last year when it amassed debts exceeding 50 million yuan.

Despite the Ip family’s bankruptcy, JW stressed she is not affected by her boyfriend’s situation as she has always been financially independent. Remaining by her boyfriend’s side, JW emphasized that she will not let others’ opinions bother her, “We are in a relationship because of our hearts and not money.”

JW’s most recent song, “Accompany You” (陪你), also seems to shed light on the Cantopop star’s feelings and steadfast stance on her relationship with Tarzan. One glaring lyric seems fitting to the situation: “All I want is for you to be happy. It is enough to be happy with you.”
