Controversial Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, 36, Announces She’s Going to Be a Grandmother
Lauren Boebert is going to become a grandmother.
The 36-year-old Republican congresswoman is one of the most controversial figures in politics these days and her announcement comes just one week after she criticized American sex-ed classes.
Sex-ed classes, which are often one of the only ways students are taught about contraception, were under fire during Boebert‘s appearance at last week’s Conservative Political Action Conference event.
“There are schools that are teaching worse than just gender ideology,” Boebert said. “I mean they have comprehensive sex-ed. They’re teaching kids how to have and enjoy sex, and even same-sex sex.”
Boebert herself was a teen mom and dropped out of high school to welcome her son Tyler. She got her GED before being elected to Congress in 2020.
The news about becoming a grandmother was announced on Tuesday (March 7) at a Moms for America event.
“I’m going to tell you all for the first time in a public setting, that not only am I a mom of four boys, but come April, I will be a gigi to a brand new grandson,” she said.
“Now, any of you who have young children who are giving life there’s some questions that pop up. There’s some fear that arises,” she said. “My son, when I approached him and told him, ‘Tyler, I’m going to be a 36-year-old grandmother,’ he said, ‘Well didn’t you make granny a 36-year-old granny?’ I said, ‘Yes, I did.’ He said, ‘Well then it’s hereditary.’ Nice try buddy.”
Teen birth rates have declined over the last 30 years, but Boebert is praising teen moms for bringing life into the world.
“There’s something special about rural conservative communities,” Boebert said. “They value life. Teen moms’ rates are higher in rural conservative areas because they understand the preciousness of a life that it’s about to be born.”
