Jeremy Renner Explains Why He Blames Himself for Snow Plow Accident, Reveals What He Yelled Seconds Before Impact
Jeremy Renner‘s first TV interview since his snow plow accident just aired on ABC and new details about the terrifying experience have been revealed.
The 52-year-old Oscar-nominated actor chatted with Diane Sawyer and discussed what happened in the moments before the accident, which occurred on New Year’s Day in Nevada.
Jeremy and his 27-year-old nephew Alex were using the snow plow to tow a Ford Raptor out of the snow and after they successfully completed the task, Alex disconnected the chain between the two vehicles. Jeremy was in the plow as it began to slide on ice and he was worried for Alex‘s safety, so he stuck one foot out of the plow to look back, but he forgot to step on the parking brake. Jeremy lost his footing and fell out of the snow plow.
He said, “I just happened to be the dummy standing on the dang track a little bit, seeing if my nephew was there. You shouldn’t be outside the vehicle when you’re operating it, you know what I mean? It’s like driving a car with one foot out of the car. But it is what it was. And it’s my mistake, and I paid for it.”
Jeremy tried to jump back into the snow plow and that’s when he was run over.
“That’s when I screamed, by the way, when I went under the thing. ‘Not today, motherfucker!’ is what I screamed. Sorry for the language,” he said.
Diane listed out the injuries and said, “Eight ribs broken in 14 places. Right knee, right ankle broken, left leg tibia broken, left ankle broken, right clavicle broken, right shoulder broken. Face, eye socket, jaw, mandible broken. Lung collapsed. Pierced from the rib bone, your liver — which sounds terrifying.”
Jeremy also talked about the goodbye note that he wrote to his family after the accident.
The chilling 911 call audio was released last week.
