Ipoh motorists advised not to use uncompleted road between Meru Raya, Klebang

IPOH: Motorists are advised not to use the uncompleted new road connecting Meru Raya and Klebang, says Datuk Rumaizi Baharin.

The Ipoh City Council mayor said the road would only be officially opened on Aug 15.

“I was told that vehicles have been using that road. I would like to inform the drivers that if anything should happen, the council is not responsible.

“I was informed that barricades placed there have been removed. This is a risk motorists are taking on their own,” he told reporters after launching the used cooking oil campaign at the Dato Sagor food court square here Friday (July 28).

Rumaizi said despite 98% of works completed, there is still 2% that needs to be done.

“So please do not take the risk, and let the works be fully completed and the road will be officially opened,” he said.

Works on the new road worth RM7.2mil started last year. The project is aimed at shortening the travel time between Meru and Klebang.

The road is also expected to reduce traffic congestion at Chemor town.
