Muhyiddin spent RM38mil on Seri Perdana for unnecessary upgrades, says Anwar

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim claims that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had prioritised the wrong things when he was the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said among the things his predecessor did was upgrade the Seri Perdana Complex in Putrajaya, although it was already in good condition.

Anwar said RM38mil was spent on the upgrade, which could have been used to help the less fortunate.

“Seri Perdana is like a palace. Do you know how much is the cost to upgrade? RM38mil,” he said according to Astro Awani on Saturday (July 29).

“Just let me know, there are less fortunate people, people with no jobs, and you chose to spend RM38mil on a house.

“What kind of a human being,” he said during the Arus Merah Kuning at Subang Bestari on Saturday (July 29).

The Pakatan Harapan chairman said he was willing to bring the youth to see for themselves the condition of Seri Perdana Complex if there are still those who do not understand.

“RM38mil for the Prime Minister’s house which is already beautiful. Changing carpets at RM80,000. Beautiful paintings changed. The companies involved were also relatives.

Muhyiddin on Sept 30 said the RM38.5mil which was approved under his administration for upgrading works of Seri Perdana was to restore the physical defects of the building, not for upgrading alone.

He said when he was appointed Prime Minister he received a report from the Prime Minister’s Department on the physical defects of Seri Perdana.

The Perikatan Nasional chairman said if the physical defects were not addressed it would deteriorate further leading to higher costs if upgraded in the future.
