Taiwanese Singer Chang Chen-Yue Performed CPR On Drowning Man, Who Later Died In The Hospital

The singer was out surfing when he saw an unconscious man pulled to shore.

Yesterday (Aug 7), Taiwanese singer Chang Chen-yue, 49, shared on Facebook that was surfing at Wangli Beach in Taipei when he saw an unconscious man pulled to shore.

Chen-yue then rushed forward to perform CPR on him. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries on the same day after he was sent to the hospital.

The man has been identified as Mr Lee, 55.

In his post, Chen-yue shared that he was in the waters at around 1pm when he heard a woman scream.

“I turned around to see someone lying on the ground while another person was kneeling [next to him]. I immediately sensed that something was wrong and rushed back to shore,” he recalled.

Before Chen-yue rushed over, another man was already performing CPR on Mr Lee. Next to them were a lady who was crying as well as a very flustered child, whom the singer guessed were the victim’s wife and child.

Chen-yue then assisted the other man and took turns performing CPR on Mr Lee before the ambulance arrived.

Though the singer was already unable to detect Mr Lee’s pulse, he continued trying his best to resuscitate him.

According to reports, Mr Lee was at the beach with his wife, their 15-year-old godson, his younger sister and her two daughters as well as his younger brother with his wife and son.

It was said that Mr Lee was pushing an inflatable boat for his godson and niece when a wave unexpectedly crashed into them.

Mr Lee was then swept 10m away from shore. He already had no vital signs when he was rescued.

Upon hearing the news of his passing, Chen-yue took to his Instagram Stories last night to pay tribute to Mr Lee.

“We didn’t manage to save him in the end. Rest in Peace. Watching someone’s life fade away in my hands is sad,” he mourned.

Netizens have since left comments to console the star, saying: “You tried your best.”

“It was hard on you, thank you for doing whatever you could,” comforted another netizen.
