Elmina crash: P-hailing rider was working hard to help fund sister’s wedding

KLANG: The late Muhamad Hafiz Muhamad Salleh, a p-hailing rider killed in the recent plane crash incident in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, was working hard to help fund his younger sister’s wedding, scheduled for Aug 26.

This was shared by his friend and fellow rider Mohd Rosmaini Sahlan, 42, who described the 32-year-old Muhamad Hafiz, fondly known as Apit, as a diligent and hardworking person.

“Apit was the kind of person who worked tirelessly, from 8am to 10pm daily.

“He once told me that his sister is getting married soon, so he wanted to make extra money to support the wedding,” he said when met after the funeral prayer at Masjid Jamek Ar Rahimiah here Saturday (Aug 19).

Mohd Rosmaini also disclosed that Muhamad Hafiz was less cheerful and kept a low profile a few days before the accident.

Another friend, Khairul Azmi Mohd Hamid, 34, said the deceased was friendly and kind.

“He was well-liked by everyone, and we don’t have any problems with him. We could talk about anything, and he wasn’t the kind of guy who talked a lot, so even new riders will feel comfortable with him.

“I’m sure things will be a little different now, and we will definitely miss him. We all do not have the strength to go to our meeting point (where p-hailing riders wait for orders) in Subang Bestari,” he said.

The 2.48pm crash on Thursday claimed the lives of two crew members and six passengers on board the Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) aircraft. It also killed two motorists – an e-hailing driver and a p-hailing rider – who happened to be passing by the area. – Bernama
