Amirudin sworn in as Selangor MB for a second time

KLANG: Sungai Tua assemblyman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has been sworn in for a second term as the Selangor Mentri Besar.

The swearing-in and oath-taking was carried out before Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at the Istana Alam Shah at 11am Monday (Aug 21).

Dressed in a black baju Melayu with a songket sampin and headgear, Amirudin pledged to serve the state and its people to the best of his ability while holding on to Selangor’s ceremonial spear, Lembing Sembuana.

He also took his oath as a member of the Selangor Royal Council soon after being sworn in as Mentri Besar.

Amirudin, 43, was sworn in for his first term in 2018 replacing the then mentri besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, who left to assume a Cabinet position.

The Universiti Putra Malaysia social science graduate first came into the limelight in 2008 when he won the then Batu Caves state seat, which he retained in 2013.

The constituency was renamed Sungai Tua after the delineation exercise prior to the 2018 general election.

The four-term assemblyman is also a PKR vice-president as well as the party’s state chief for Selangor and Pahang.

He was appointed an executive councillor in the Selangor state government after the 2013 polls and held the youth development, sports, cultural and entrepreneurship development portfolio.

He is married to Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad and the couple have six children.

Amirudin’s 10-member exco team will be sworn in at the same venue at 2pm Monday.
