‘80s Cat III Star Amy Yip, 57, Still Has 21-Inch Waist; Is Open To Making Acting Comeback

She has one condition though.

Ever since former Category III actress Amy Yip faded out of showbiz in the mid ‘90s, sightings of her have been few and far between.

Save for an occasional glimpse of her at gatherings with showbiz pals, the elusive star has managed to avoid public exposure.

The 57-year-old recently attended the Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association’s 44th anniversary celebration at the invitation of Hong Kong director-producer Raymond Wong.

Dressed in a white cropped top that showed off her tiny waist, Amy shared that she has maintained her figure over the decades.

“I often work out, do sit-ups and jog. Currently, I weigh 90 pounds (about 40.8kg) and have a 21-inch waist. I can fit into my clothes from way back,” she said.

In her heyday, Amy reportedly had an F-cup figure and 21-inch waist.

After starring in 1994 film Underground Judgement, Amy bowed out of the spotlight reportedly to spend more time with her doctor boyfriend, Dr Sammy Lui.

While she has been leading a quiet, elusive life, Amy shared that she keeps herself busy by cooking and working out, and doesn’t feel bored at all.

After her boyfriend passed away in 2018, she reconnected with showbiz pals like Michael Hui, Philip Chan, and John Shum, who encouraged her to attend gatherings and socialise more.

Though Amy previously said she had no intentions of returning to acting, she seems to have warmed up to the idea.

“I am open to it,” said Amy. “I still enjoy acting. If there’s a good script for a TV drama, I will accept it. The most important thing is to have roles to play. However, returning to acting carries a lot of pressure. With so many new talents emerging, the competition is fierce.”

That said, she draws the line at sexy pictorials and roles.

“I’ve done too many in the past and I’m tired of it. If I have the opportunity to make a comeback, I hope to focus on acting. The most important thing in life is to be happy,” she said.
