Cops seek witness to help in gang rape probe

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are on the lookout for one witness in their investigations into an alleged gang rape here.

Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said that the victim, a local woman, had filed a report on Aug 30 stating that she had been raped by five men at a house in Wangsa Maju.

“All suspects have run away and the police are working towards locating them all. The victim has been referred to the Kuala Lumpur hospital for treatment,” he said in a statement.

Wangsa Maju police have named 29-year-old Muhammad Nuraffiq Ja’afar, from the Laksamana Cochrane 2 PPR, as a witness and are urging those with information of his whereabouts to come forward.

Those with information are urged to contact investigating officer Insp Siti Fadzilah Ahmad Fisal at 017-6240252 or their nearest police station.

Earlier on Thursday (Aug 31), Bukit Aman Sexual, Women and Child Investigations Division (D11) Assistant Director Asst Comm Siti Kamsiah Hassan confirmed the case when contacted, adding that the case was being investigated for rape.

According to Berita Harian, the 27 victim was raped in a house in Wangsa Maju on Wednesday (Aug 30).
