Politician in maid abuse case: Investigation papers sent back to Selangor cops by DPP

PETALING JAYA: The investigation paper of the alleged abuse of an Indonesian domestic helper has been referred back to the police for several more actions to be taken, the state police chief says.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the police report was lodged on Aug 22 by the 54-year-old victim stating that she had been abused by a former politician and businessman.

“The investigation paper has been referred to the deputy public prosecutor and several instructions have been given which we are in the midst of completing to finish up our investigation paper in order to proceed with charging,” he said on Monday (Sept 4) night.

He added that investigations were being conducted under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing harm with a weapon.

Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Hermono earlier told The Star that the victim was currently being given protection by the embassy.

Former Ampang PKR youth chief Datuk Adam Rosly has denied the claims in a statement Monday, adding that the allegations were slanderous.

He added that he and his family had given their statements to the police and photos of bruises from the alleged abuse were from a fighter between the victim and other helpers under his employ.
