”Come out and vote’, PN’s Pulai candidate urges young voters

JOHOR BARU: The Perikatan Nasional candidate for the Pulai parliamentary seat, Zulkifli Jaafar, is urging more youths to come out to vote.

The Pulai Bersatu deputy chief said that based on his surveillance of the polling centres, the percentage of young voters was similar to that of those in the other age groups.

“I was informed that as of noon, more than 20% had come out to vote, and from what I can see (based on the centres that I have visited), the number of youth is quite okay.

“There are no significant gaps with the other age group; the previous trend was that they would usually come later in the evening.

“But it might be due to the forecast of wet weather that they have come earlier to cast their vote,” he said when met after visiting the SK Seri Melati polling centre here on Saturday (Sept 9).

Zulkifli added that there were still quite a number of voters who have yet to cast their votes, possibly due to work.

“A huge part of Pulai is located in the city, so the majority of people are working.

“I hope that they can carve out some of their time after lunch to come and vote, as the current weather is still okay,” he added.

Zulkifli is in a three-cornered fight against Pakatan Harapan Suhaizan Kayat and Independent candidate, Samsudin Mohamad Fauzi.
