Anwar tables 12MP mid-term review, reveals extra RM15bil allocation

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has tabled the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) Mid-Term Review in the Dewan Rakyat here on Monday (Sept 11).

While tabling the motion, Anwar said 31% of the 175 targets of the 12MP, tabled on Oct 21, 2021, had been achieved while 59% are on schedule.

A total of RM400bil was allocated for the 12th MP. However, Anwar said a further RM15bil will be added, bringing the total allocation for the government’s five-year development plan to RM415bil.

“The additional allocation is to fund the needs of the people, improve the quality of management and for targeted subsidies,” he said.

Anwar said RM64.3bil was spent in 2021 and a further RM71.6bil in 2022.

He added that some RM90bil will be spent between this year and 2025.

The Dewan Rakyat has convened a six-day special sitting for the review beginning Monday.

This is the first tabling of the mid-term review by the unity government since it came to power after GE15 on Nov 19.
