King and Queen thank Sibu for rousing welcome they received

SIBU: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah was appreciative to the people of Bintulu and Sibu for their warm reception.

“Thank you to the people of Bintulu and Sibu for giving us a rousing welcome. I am very touched and with a very sincere heart, this is a manifestation that the people of Borneo are fantastic as they are willing to wait for my family and I,” said Al-Sultan Abdullah at a community dinner at Malay Union Club (MUC) Hall on Monday (Sept 11) evening.

The dinner was held in conjunction with Their Majesties ongoing Kembara Kenali Borneo tour.

His Majesty said he was still in an upbeat mood despite so far having driven a distance of 1,700km from Tawau to Sibu.

“Overall I want to express my appreciation for receiving us to Kampung Nyabor here. I saw many people lining up greeting us. This will forever etch in our hearts,” he said.

Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah also attended the dinner, held in conjunction with the Kembara Kenali Borneo, which entered its ninth day, on Monday.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg Deputy, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak Datuk Dr Annuar Rapa’ee, Their Majesties’ sons, the Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah; Tengku Panglima Raja Colonel Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah and Tengku Ahmad Ismail Mu’adzam Shah.

The Royal couple will have a light breakfast on Tuesday (Sept 12) morning at the Central Market before heading for Sri Aman and later Kuching.
