DBKL enforcement officers seize 25 motorcycles for obstructing pedestrian walkways

AFTER repeated offences on various obstructions, 25 motorcycle owners had their wheels confiscated in the city centre by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) on Thursday (Sept 14).

DBKL enforcement officers and traffic wardens swooped down to various hot spots in the city centre to nab offenders.

Areas targetted were Jalan Ampang, Jalan P. Ramlee and Persiaran KLCC. A total of 35 compound notices were issued while 25 motorcycles were impounded at the city vehicles depot in Jalan Pahang.

A DBKL officer told Star Metro that the offenders had broken various laws including The Road Transport Act 1987 and the Road Traffic Rules 1959.

“The motorcycles were parked on pedestrian walkways and tactile blocks,” said the officer.

“This is part of our standard enforcement exercise done regularly around hotspots. We want to tell people that we are around and watching, so please follow the rules,” added the officer.

A video of the enforcement exercise went viral yesterday after a netizen put it up on social media.

It spurred an overwhelming response from members of the public praising DBKL for a job well done.

Many city folk called on the local authority to come to their areas and do similar enforcement.
