Teen warded with eye injury after allegedly being struck by teacher

BALIK PULAU: A Form Five student claims he sustained an eye injury after allegedly being hit by a teacher.

In a video on social media, the teenager’s 47-year-old father said his son suffered internal bleeding of the right eye after the incident in a Sungai Ara secondary school on Thursday (Sept 14).

He expressed his disappointment over the action by his son’s teacher that had purportedly inflicted a severe injury on his son.

“What if it caused him to go blind?” he asked in dismay.

It is learnt that the teenager was caught smoking an ecigarette in class during a lesson at about 12.30pm.

The boy was sent to Hospital Balik Pulau before being referred to Hospital Penang, where he has been admitted and is reported to be in stable condition.

It is learnt that a police report will be lodged and the boy’s parents will seek to meet school authorities about the incident.
