The use of beauty filters may be banned in Chinese dramas but no one said anything about reality competitions right?
Recently, Chinese idol competition Asia Super Young revealed photos of its 65 male contestants.
Among the trainees was someone really familiar yet somewhat… different?
That person is 26-year-old TVB actor Karl Ting, who came second in the Mr Hong Kong Pageant in 2016.
In his photo for Asia Super Young, even though his signature dimples were still there, netizens were shocked by how made up he was. Clearly someone on the post-production team had gone a bit too far with the beauty filter.
He skin tone is many shades lighter and his eyes almost twice as big.
Karl’s fans were not the only ones unhappy with his new Korean Oppa look.
Even the actor himself left a comment saying: “Everyone please help Photoshop me back to my original look.”
The photos weren’t the only problem.
In the promo clip for the competition, Karl also looked weirdly different, so much so that netizens wondered if he had offended the behind-the-scenes team.
In response, the actor said: “I already gave my feedback to the production crew and asked them not to add so much filter.”
Um, guess they didn’t listen to him at all?
