Chinese Fans Accuse Bosco Wong Of Being “Cold And Unfriendly” At Guangzhou Event

Clips from the event, however, show that Bosco might not have been as unpleasant as some have said.

Hong Kong star Bosco Wong, 42, has amassed a strong fanbase in the Mainland, thanks to his starring roles in Chinese productions, such as Your Secret (2019) and White War (2020).

However, his appearance at a recent brand event in Guangzhou will not win him new fans.

According to reports, a large crowd of Bosco’s fans had braved the hot sun for hours, with some of them almost passing out from the heat, just to catch a glimpse of the actor.

But it seems like these same devoted fans now have a bone to pick with him.

Soon after the event, they took to social media to complain about Bosco’s “chilly demeanour” that day.

“Bosco is cold and unfriendly! After the event ended, he immediately got in his car and left. He didn’t turn around to spare us a glance, even though we stood for hours waiting to see him. He doesn’t love his fans as much as Ron Ng,” recounted an unhappy fan.

The unhappy fan compared Bosco to Ron, who was similarly mobbed by fans during another event

Contrary to the accounts of his behaviour, videos from that day show that Bosco might not have acted like how netizens described.

In one clip, Bosco was seen surrounded by bodyguards while walking towards his car in the carpark. The atmosphere was chaotic, and his bodyguards restrained fans from getting close to him. They were also heard rushing Bosco to leave the site.

However, Bosco appeared patient, and kept a smile on his face the whole time.

In another clip, Bosco’s female fans could be seen tailing him all the way to his car, with one of them pushing forward to pass him a piece of paper so she could get his autograph.

Bosco’s bodyguards immediately stepped in to pull her away after realising how close she had gotten.

Bosco didn’t utter a word while all that happened, but was seen waving and smiling to the fan in acknowledgment.

There were netizens who were understanding about Bosco’s situation.

A netizen who was present at the event posted a comment, saying they overheard from a staff member that the actor had to take a four-hour car ride back to Hong Kong. They defended him, saying it was “totally normal” that he was rushing off.

Another netizen also responded to the comparison made between Bosco and Ron. They brought up an incident where Ron was mobbed by fans at another event in China, writing: “Ron did turn around to look at you guys, but it was because the place was so packed he couldn’t leave.”
