Defence Ministry gives land in Skudai to build Hospital Sultanah Aminah 2

JOHOR BARU: The green light has been obtained for the construction of Hospital Sultanah Aminah 2 (HSA 2) on Defence Ministry land in Skudai.

Johor health and unity committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the ministry has agreed to give away 28.33ha from its 202.34ha of land for the hospital.

“I visited the site with Health Minister Dr Zalina Mustafa last month, and (her) ministry is currently drafting the plans,” he told reporters after opening the state-level Wellness Month at the Hospital Sultanah Aminah Wellness Hub here on Friday (Sept 29).

“This is one of the focus projects for the state government.

“We hope the planning will go smoothly so that construction of the hospital can be included in Budget 2024,” Ling added.

The construction of HSA 2 has long been discussed to meet the increasing demand for medical needs from some two million people in the city and its surrounding areas.

Currently, the two hospitals here – Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) and Hospital Sultan Ismail – are operating at 90% of capacity with HSA being the second-busiest public hospital in the country after Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
