Alternative routes for motorists using Pasir Gudang Highway

JOHOR BARU: Those using the Pasir Gudang Highway are advised to take alternative routes to reduce congestion on the road that is currently undergoing upgrading works.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said he had told the Public Works Department (JKR) to make temporary road lines as a way to reduce the traffic bottleneck in the area.

“The upgrading process is in its final phase and is expected to be completed by mid-October.

“The people have complaints about the severe congestion due to the repair and paving works.

“As a short-term solution, JKR has made temporary road lines. In addition, I request motorists to use alternative routes until the middle of October,” he said in a Facebook statement.

Onn Hafiz also suggested several alternative roads in the post.

“Those travelling between Johor Baru and Pasir Gudang can exit through Jalan Pandan (FT03), then go through Jalan Rinting and Jalan Masai Lama.

“From Senai to Ulu Tiram, they can exit via Bandar Dato Onn, then exit through Adda Height and then go through Taman Daya and Mount Austin before exiting at Aeon Tebrau.

“From Skudai to Ulu Tiram, you can exit from Angsana Mall, go through Jalan Tampoi and exit at Kampung Ubi Baru,” he added.

It was earlier reported that over half of the 23 roadworks along the Pasir Gudang highway have been completed, with the state government pushing for the rest to be finished to avoid worsening traffic congestion.

As of now, only eight projects are remaining and they are expected to be completed by next month.
