We’ve seen Hong Kong stars being cancelled by Chinese netizens for not being pro-China. Then there are those who truly embrace being part of China.
The Hong Kong Celebrity Football Team, which includes stars like Alan Tam, 73, Natalis Chan, 72, Felix Wong, 62, Cheung Siu-fai, 60, Eddie Kwan, 61, belong to the latter group.
The team travelled from Hong Kong to Foshan to play at a football match recently, the date coinciding with the Mid-Autumn Festival and China’s National Day holiday.
In order to avoid the jam, the team took a 40-minute flight to Guangzhou before getting on a bus to Foshan just to be on time for the game.
The team also made sure to showcase their love for China at the match.
A video shows the men passionately belting out the Chinese national anthem in front of the Chinese flag before kick-off.
And ladies and gentlemen, that’s how you win the hearts of the Chinese netizens.
“This is what we call true patriotism,” effused one netizen.
