Chinese Actor Liu Haoran Slammed For Modelling For Balenciaga, Which Apologised For Mistreating Chinese Shoppers In 2018, On China’s National Day

The internet never forgives.

Chinese actor Liu Haoran has angered netizens after he walked for Balenciaga at Paris Fashion Week on October 1.

The 25-year-old, who shot to popularity with 2015 Chinese comedy Detective Chinatown, was criticised for “lacking integrity” and working with a brand that had discriminated against Chinese shoppers.

In 2018, the French luxury fashion house came under fire for mistreating and assaulting Chinese shoppers at its Printemps outlet in Paris.

While Haoran has attended Balenciaga’s fashion shows in the past, this latest showing triggered netizens as he walked the runway for the brand on Oct 1 aka China’s National Day.

Soon “Balenciaga Liu Haoran” made the hot search list, and comments like “Walking for a brand that disrespected China on National Day? Bro, are you out of your mind?” and “What is Liu Haoran doing? Modelling for a sensitive brand on a special holiday?” setting the Internet on fire.

While some netizens defended Haoran, saying that the brand had already apologised for the incident, well, the internet never forgets.

There were also fans who felt he could not carry off the oversized edgy look.
