Anwar has not endorsed formation of new political party, says PMO
PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has never supported nor endorsed anyone to set up a new political party, says the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
“The PMO views seriously attempts to misuse the Prime Minister’s name for vested interests without approval from the PMO.
“Such an attempt is very irresponsible and gives a negative impression of the Prime Minister’s credibility and the government administration,” said the PMO in a statement on Monday (Oct 9).
On Sunday, a news portal quoted a business owner saying that there are plans to set up a new Indian political party.
He claimed Anwar, whom he met at an event in Klang, had given him the go-ahead to form the party but the final decision was in the Prime Minister’s hands.
